| This study aimed to develop a new method based on Geographic Information Analysis,Image Analysis, and simulation techniques to quantitatively evaluate the physicalenvironment of a river ecosystem, focusing on flooded conditions. And we also aimed toevaluate how differences in flooded conditions between the past(1923) and the present(2007)have influenced the bio community from the viewpoint of the availability of fish refugesduring floods. In the result, we succeeded in developing the techniques. The techniquesreconstructed correctly the flood condition. In the simulation for 1923, a huge area offloodplain inundated by floodwaters flowing inland past the kasumitei provided refuge forfishes. In the simulation for 2007, only a small area of floodplain nears a few remainingkasumitei functioned as a fish refuge area. |
