| "A case study on a pre-stressed concrete bridge that was damaged during Niigata-Chuetsu 2004 earthquake is presented in this paper by means of nonlinear finite element method. The bridge is supported by two main pre-stressed concrete wall-type piers. Two-dimensional finite element method is employed to model those piers under cyclic loads by taking into account fracture energy released during cracking process. Since load-deflection responses of the piers are unknown, crack pattern is utilized to predict level of load and deflection those members might have experienced. Thereafter, residual strength and ductility of the bridge from current damage state is investigated." |
