| A two-dimensional rainfall-runoff-inundation model is developed for flood risk assessment and flood predictions at the regional scale. The model simulates both river discharges and inundations with rainfall input. It adopts diffusion wave approximations for slope and river calculations. The model applications to the Sayou River basin (189 km2) and the Miya River basin (737 km2) showed that flood inundations in the river valleys and also their effects on the downstream river discharges can be adequately simulated. In addition、the application to a region (16、353 km2) covering multiple river basins in Hyogo and Kyoto prefectures indicated that the future potential of the model for flood predictions at the regional scale. |
