We applied ground-penetrating radar (GPR) to detect the influence by traffic load in asphalt pavement. A heavy vehicle repeatedly ran on our test road and the wheel load caused two ruts on the surface of asphalt pavement. We acquired GPR records after the load test and reported that the deformed range extends to base course or roadbed (Oishi et al (2021)). The heavy vehicle additionally ran and brought to further subsidence of two ruts. After that, we acquired additional GPR records and compared with the previous records. We used a GPR antenna with a centre frequency of 800 MHz and acquired GPR records a total of three times in all periods, before loading, after the first loading and after the second loading. We analysed the traveltime of reflection signals from the top surface of subbase and roadbed. We also obtained elevation data using photogrammetry at the same time of GPR surveys to correct the influence of terrain. In this report, we introduce that GPR is useful equipment to detect the deformed range of pavement affected by traffic load. |
