2-Methylisoborneol (2-MIB) is one of the moldy smell substances and is caused for the foul odor in closed water area such as dams and lakes. There is a high demand for solutions to mold odor problems including in drinking water and water environments, because humans can detect a musty odor even at low concentrations 5 ng/L. Cyanobacteria including Pseudanabaena has been known to cause the production of 2-MIB. On the other hands, the mechanism of increased mold odor in water environment has not yet been elucidated. Here, we investigated the relationship between 2-MIB emission and cell lysis under dark conditions using 2-MIB producing cyanobacteria Pseudanabaena yagii. |
