There has been reported a number of suffered examples of temporary protection fences due to unexpected rockfalls or collapses of slopes. According to anamnestic cases, small rockfalls or collapses tend to occur before a big slope failure as a pre-failure phenomenon. Thus, it's required to establish fail-safe management for road sach as exact detection of small rockfalls as a pre-failure phenomenon and the traffic restriction before suffering from the big scale collapses. The authors have developed two types of systems for detecting small rockfalls for the purpose of preventing dameges of the road user behind the temporary protection fence. As the result of verifing the systems through basic experiments and field performance tests, we succeeded to detect small rockfalls and collapses from the vibration measurement data including various noises.
