In the Kii mountains, primary landslides occurred including the one in the Ui district. Primary landslides are considered to occur frequently on moderate slopes formed due to rock creep. No techniques have, however, yet been established for identifying such deformation. Studies have therefore been conducted for identifying the process of primary landslides with a view to preventing or reducing the damage by primary landslides. In this study, (i) topography was interpreted in model areas using laser profilers and micro-topography was identified by field inspection, (ii) dip-strike of discontinuities such as cracks under ground level was grasped based on the result of high-quality boring surveys and (iii) measurements were made using sensitive ground surface tiltmeters. As a result, changes in measurements obtained by sensitive ground surface tiltmeters in the model areas for measurement were found to be related to the dip-strike obtained by ground surface surveys and boring investigations. |
