Using a wild-animal ATS, it is possible to accurately and continuously track animal behavior with a distance error of approximately 30 m. Using this method, we tracked behaviors of sweetfish for 2 weeks during downstream-migration periods. We subsequently modeled the sweetfish behavior and verified the accuracy of the model. We found that the average home range of sweetfish was approximately 6000 m2, the sweetfish mainly inhabited areas with greater water depth and low current velocity, and the developed model accurately represented the behavioral characteristics of sweetfish. The results indicate that the use of behavioral data obtained from wild-animal ATSs is effective for developing accurate behavioral models such as the model developed in this study. |
