| This paper presents the seismic behavior of some retrofitted highway bridges during the earthquake, compares the damage to those suffered by unretrofitted bridges, and discusses the effectiveness of the seismic retrofit for bridge columns with insufficient development length of the cut-off longitudinal reinforcement rebars at mid-height section. Remarkable damage to the structural members where the additional shear keys or the unseating prevention devices are attached is also introduced in the paper. |
