The in-situ none-destructive evaluation (NDE) system using X-ray and Neutron sources has been developed for inspecting post-tensioned PC structures to evaluate the residual bearing capacity of post-tensioned PC structures having several defaults such as corrosion and breakage of rebars and strands. In this system, the locations and sizes of voids or wires are detected with an special accuracy of 1mm by partial angle computer tomography (CT) or Tomosynthesis technique using portable 950 keV/3.95 MeV X-band (9.3GHz) linear accelerator x-ray sources. The X-ray system was verified with actual bridge members in on-site testing, which is the first trial in Japan for actual utilization of X-band X-ray sources on-site. The Neutron source imaging system can identify water inside the concrete or even in the duct, and the large-scale detector has been developed for in-suit evaluation. |
