From the results of an activated sludge pilot-plant-survey, a positive correlationship between removal at sedimentation tank and distribution coefficient (Log D) was observed . But the compounds with high Log D tend to show low removal ratio during the whole treatment process. It is suggested that substances which sorb onto the solid phase makes them more resistant to biodegradation. |
