This paper examines the ultimate strain at the rupture of continuous CFRP sheets having high elastic modulus bonded on reinforced concrete beams subjected to flexural loading. The authors carried out static and cyclic flexural loading tests using 16 specimens of reinforced concrete beams strengthened with the sheets. The average measured strain of the sheets just before the rupture observed near the flexural cracks of the concrete was determined as approximately 0.002, corresponding to approximately 60 % of the ultimate strain obtained from the static tensile tests of the sheets. In addition, the ultimate strain of the sheets at the flexural cracks was found to be affected by cyclic loading, although the statistical property of fatigue of the sheets tested has not been obtained. |
