| The 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake enerated strong ground motion and huge tsunami which caused severe damage to bridge structure. It is important issues based on the lessons learned from the earthquake to consider the extraordinary events for the design of resilient bridge structures with the engineering reasonableness. This report reviews the damage of bridges due to the tsunami effect briefly and introduces recent research works by PWRI for the resilient bridge structures based on the collapse management. |
